Needed a walk-in clinic close to home, to have our Newborn (3 day old) assessed for Jaundice, as recommended by our family doctor as a follow-up. My wife was also very ill with a fever. I checked the Office hours online via Google, and it indicates until 3:30pm. We planned accordingly to arrived prior to that time. As a second measure I called the office to make sure. There was no answer, and on the automated voicemail, the hours for Saturday were confirmed until 3:30pm. We arrived at the clinic at 2:45pm. The reception told us the office was closed, despite the fact that the doors were not locked, lights on, etc. I told the reception that I checked two different sources to confirm their hours of operation before coming, and she told us that "we just changed our hours yesterday", sorry about that. She said lemme check if the doctor can look at you anyway. I looked around, the office was completely empty, no patients waiting, not busy whatsoever. When she returned she said ok the Doctor said she can look at the baby but not the mother. If you want the mother to be looked at go to the other walk-in clinic 2 blocks South. The receptionist said, also we will be charging you $40, since your newborn is not covered by OHIP yet. I corrected her and said we have a temporary OHIP card, with a registered OHIP number. She said once you get the hard copy of the card you can come back and we will refund you the $40. We ended up leaving, as they wouldn't see my wife. We went down the street to Halton Family Health, where they did not attempt to charge us $40, and diagnosed my wife having Mastitis. We have never been treated like that in the walk-in clinics we've been to. A Newborn OHIP temporary card should be accepted anywhere. Given the circumstances with misleading (publicly posted) hours of operation and a sick wife and possibly Jaundice affected baby, I feel this office handled every aspect very poorly. I was considering this doctor as our new family doctor, but after this experience we were left with a bad taste in our mouth and will not be returning. If you need help asap, and professional/kind staff go to Halton Family Health!
